My Skin Story:
I started getting temperamental skin when I was 18 which was so upsetting when it seemed like everyone else had gone through their ‘bad skin’ stage when they were in secondary school. I spent a lot of time trying products and through trial and error I have finally found some that are doing wonders for my skin.
My Latest Buys:
- Body Shop Anti-imperfection Night Mask £12
It. is. a. life. Saver. It’s tea tree, which is amazing for your skin, and is actually a good price given the size of the pot. You put a small amount on to your blemished areas, let it sink in overnight and I swear to you, your blemishes appear less visible and you skin feels so smooth, clean and bright. I’ve just bought my second pot as i’m half-way through my first one but I’ve been using this for months now and I’m still loving it.
- Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser – £8.00
I have been trying to find an every-day cleanser that doesn’t dry out my skin even more and also isn’t harmful. I find a lot of make-up wipes have chemicals that irritate my skin so I decided to search for something more natural. I was using micellar water which was fine but since I’ve found this cleanser my skin feels better as it’s very gentle and nourishing. I’ve been using that about 2 weeks now so I’m waiting to see whether it will cause breakouts but I’m hoping the natural products will mean my skin continues to agree with it and I have finally found a cleanser I can stick with.
- Witch Hazel Cleaning and Toning Wipes – £2.99
If I am going to be removing make up (in particular eye make-up) I prefer to use these wipes. I find these are much better for getting the tougher make-up (eye-liner) and the list of ingredients is actually very small (which I’d been told was a good thing as it meant less unknown chemicals and ingredients being introduced to your skin).
- Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream £14
(Also do a Body Shop Vitamin E moisture cream which is lighter)
I have very dry skin and no moisturiser I found went deep enough to last. I found a decent one when I was trying out proactiv but it cost far too much money to keep buying. And so started my journey for a thicker, deep-penetrating moisturiser. This cream I find is perfect for my skin and leaves my skin feeling mousturised all day. When I have days where I am not so dry, or I need a little top up I’ll switch to the ‘day’ moisturising cream which is just as great but a lot lighter. This may seem like a lot of money but a small amount goes a long way and is the only one I’ve found that doesn”t leave me feeling oily while is thick enough to last me all day.
- Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Reviver – £17
This is new to my arsenal. I was looking for something to brighten my skin in these wintery months and the reviews all seemed positive so I decided to give it a try. It has a very smooth texture that makes your skin appear more even, and it also has some brightening specks in it that is designed to “revive” your skin which looked worryingly like highlight at first. You only need a pea-sized amount as it seems to go far, which I suppose would mean you wouldn’t need to spend £17 often but I would question whether I would spend this again as although I noticed a slight difference, it’s perhaps not worth that amount of money.
- Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Microdermabrasion – £18
I wanted a good exfoliator that didn’t feel too harsh on my skin but still rubbed dead skin and dirt away. This does exactly that; it has very small balls in the serum that gently exfoliates the skin whilst having a refreshing citrus smell. Does that make it worth £18? Absolutely not. Am I going to look at cheaper options? Absolutely. Do I still love using this project? Yes, unfortunately.
- Garnier Miracle Eye Cream – £4.39
The jury is still out on this as I’ve only been using it a few days so I can’t really comment. So far I’ve found it seems to have a colour to it to even out dark circles, which I wasn’t aware of and isn’t a problem for me, so this has turned into a day cream but I have no real review for this as of yet. If you have any good eye cream suggestions – Please send them my way!
Right now, I’m loving 5 out of the 7 products. There are still a range of products that I want to try out – in particular the other Vitamin E products they have available, the Tea tree products they have available and basically every other thing just to see how they are with my skin seeing as each of these products does something different.
My only complaint I would have is the price. I would like to find a cheaper versions but for now until someone recommends something worth changing for, this is the best for me.
Do you have any recent skin-care products that you’re loving? Anything that you can recommend to me?
